Their History

Jake and Jordan Sadoff entered the beanie market in 1995, like many others, as collectors. As they became more and more proficient on the beanie market, people in town began to learn of the Sadoff’s interest and knowledge of Beanies. As their reputation grew, their collecting soon turned into buying and selling other peoples beanies on consignment. They taught themselves the ins and outs of beanies, which included mastering all the styles, variations, hang and tush tag chronology, and other variations which existed. As they learned more, they bought and sold more, and their reputation grew to a national level, now dealing with people around the country via the Internet. In 1998, while completing their bachelor’s degrees in business at Northern Illinois University, the Sadoff brothers had a full-fledged business, which included a full staff of assistants in their beanie enterprise. As they attended class at NIU, they learned the business theories and studied hypothetical businesses, while at the same time were running their own real business. Instead of dealing in widgets, as was taught in class, they were dealing in beanies.

Incorporating their business in 1999 as JJ Bean, Inc. the Sadoffs became one of the larger dealers in the Chicagoland area. They now decided it was time to take their knowledge, experience, and business, and push it toward the global scale. After meeting several beanie dealers in the United Kingdom, Jake and Jordan gained respect and recognition from dealers and collectors both in the US and abroad. At the same time, they began selling beanies on such websites as up4sale and Ebay. Throughout 1998-2000, Jordan and Jake extensively increased their knowledge base of Beanie babies. More and more counterfeits entered the market during this period. Thus, it was essential for their survival that they become 100% proficient at spotting and determining authenticity of the beanies that came through their doors. Due to the significant role they played in the Beanie community, their reputation was constantly at stake. They have prided themselves on not only their extensive knowledge, but also their integrity and honesty in a sometimes not-so-honest market. Currently, the Sadoff’s operate their business in the Chicagoland area, in a town called Streamwood. They, along with the help of a fantastic staff of professionals, continue to supply dealers and collectors all over the world with high quality authentic Beanie babies.
